Kori finds a snake

Kori's started digging in the dirt here recently. She's such a girly tom-boy. She wants to play in the dirt but then she makes cookies with the mud.....seems like a contradiction to me. Anyway, with the rain we've had the last few days the ground is nice and soft and perfect for digging.
Yesterday, Kruz came inside half panicked because Kori found a snake. Come see! Come see! Hurry!

(don't miss the "snake" on Ky's hands)

I tried every bribe I could think of to get Kruz to hold it but nothing worked.
This shot took about thirty tries because Kruz didn't trust Kyran to keep it away from him.

Kori ached to keep her new friend but I told her no. I explained that it would die because we didn't have the necessary things to make it a happy home. She would need to be satisfied just knowing that somewhere in her yard he was still out there and very happy that she'd granted his freedom. She was so heartsick that she took her supper on a plastic plate and ate outside watching it.

Quite a snake, huh?

Kruz Jackson

Just an update for you all.
Kruz is doing better. Much, much better.
The steroids have made him gain weight.
You actually groan when you attempt to pick him up.
He is now in remission.
The following is a:
*Too Much Information Alert*
Now that he is in remission he's having "Big-Boy Poops".
Meaning he no longer has explosive diarrhea or bloody stool.
Whenever he has a bowel movement he makes sure he shows everybody in the house before flushing.
I've caught him a couple of times ,"....saving it to show Daddy when he comes home from work!"

The other morning as I'm drinking my tea, sifting through the paper, I hear Kori and Kruz wake up and start moving around. Usually, they rush downstairs shouting, trying to be the first in line to hug and kiss me, but this morning was different. It was probably a good 5 minutes before they made their appearance. As they start to come down the stairs Kori yells for me to shut my eyes because she has a surprise for me.....
Her surprise was that she had dressed Kruz and herself - in their Sunday, Fairy Princess Best.

Here they are. Fresh Bed-Head and Morning Breath singing me a song.

Influenza....

There's a 12-hour bug in my house-taking us down one-by-one. First Kruzer on Friday. Kori started Saturday evening at Kelley's basketball game and then I woke up with it yesterday. During half-time of the game a lady sitting near us came back from the concession stand with a box of Crispy Cremes and of course couldn't resist sharing them with the kids. Towards the end of the game Kori starts crying because of a belly ache which I'm assuming is from the doughnuts. As we're waking to the car Kori pukes in the parking lot all over her shoes. Talk about being both gross and embarrassing. Kelley and Kyran, so far, haven't come down with it. They must be tougher than us. There's nothing like feeling like your toe nails are coming up every time you vomit. But hey, on a positive note, my jeans are baggier today. That good 'ole influenza diet.....

In other news.....

Baby Kendall has started rolling over. She has been waking herself up during the night by flipping herself over. I've told the kids that she knows a trick but so far she's only doing it at night. The kids watch and watch and watch but she just lays there and coo's at them. Kori's dying to know what the trick is...

Spring is almost here!

This morning Kori and I discovered little purple and yellow crocuses in the flower beds and scattered throughout the yard. I can hardly wait to be outdoors again!!

Kruzer....

For months now my sweet little boy has had blood in his stool (diarrhea) and the docs have been trying to find the cause. We've done numerous labs of blood work and stool samples and finally 2 weeks ago a day at the hospital for a colonoscopy and biopsies of the large intestine.

They discovered he's got a disease called Ulcerative Colitis. Unfortunately, there's no cure for this and it's something he'll have the rest of his life.

He's on a course of Steroids for a few weeks then back to the hospital for an Upper GI where they'll look for Crohn's Disease in his small intestine.

As terrible as it all sounds, and is, Kruz is still your typical ornery, mischievous, playful two-year old.

Here he is after his day at the hospital listening to his tunes and taking care of Kori's baby doll for her.

I'm Back..

After what has felt like years away, hidden under some obscure rock, we're back. The past year has brought what felt like more downs than ups, more curses than blessings, more wrongs than right but through it all we grew. We found out we were much stronger than we knew.

Thank you to those few of you who encouraged us. Your words of support and prayers were and are so appreciated.

And for those who kicked us when we were down - what goes around comes around but we'll be there for you anyway because that's just the kind of people we are.

God Bless.
